“Void is when there is absolutely nothing there and the nothing is natural, a complete vacuum. But empty - with empty, you are aware of what's supposed to be there. Empty means something is missing.”
“Everyone tried with me. And everytime, it felt like the whole point of life was to see if trying was ever enough.”
“But there are people you know, and there are people you have a connection with.
...
Wasn't that what make us feel responsible-not for what happened, but responsible for you? We always felt responsible for you. That's the nature of connection-not just the attachment, but the responsibility.”
-- David Levithan
I read his book, Every You, Every Me, some time ago this month. I couldn't finish it because it was too depressing. Everytime I read the book I felt like my life was bleak and emotionless and void and I just wanted to goddamn take a bullet to my temple. YES it was that depressing.
So I couldn't finish the book.
I mean, it was depressing because the protagonist was so depressing and he made me depressed too. Not that his life in the book was so awesome, I felt mine was dull in comparison. On the contrary! Yeap.
But after reading the quotes I think I will muster up the strength LOL and I will finish it one shot on a rainy day at starbucks with zhiyi.
Anyway it's a relatively warm Saturday now and I'm with Zhiyi at my place. He's lepaking one corner in my room reading SS. He think he matrep. #noracistbro
